THE HEART

For this project, we were assigned a word with multiple meanings. The challenge was to design a poster that encapsulated multiple meanings of our assigned word. I was assigned the word, heart. The meanings I chose to represent were heart as the physical anatomical heart, the heart as your emotions, and lastly heart meaning center. With this poster, I focused on the concept of rational versus irrational while keeping centrality in mind. The anatomical heart is so rational while one's emotions can be so irrational. The left side represents the rational side from the bitmap of the organ to the map of the heart of a city and lastly to the ekg of a heartbeat. The right side represents the irrational quality of love and emotions. It features one quote about love from C.S. Lewis, a valentine's candy heart, and lastly a very irrational quote from Romeo & Juliet. The left side of the poster became the rational side because the left side of one's heart pumps blood throughout the entire body while the right side only pumps blood to the lungs. It seemed rational to me to make the left side represent the rationality, and ultimately to let the rational win.
